Young Athletes League at Bath - 6th May 2012
Yeovil Olympiads U15 boys team started their season in an accomplished and solid manner in the Young Athletes League Match at Team Bath. Both Sam Somerville and Matthew Trickey achieved grade 1 and English Schools entry standard performances in the 800m (02min 03.6) and shot putt (13.02m) respectively. Kris Caines in the pole vault and Brett Harrison in the sprints acquitted themselves admirably, showing that they have the talent and potential to achieve some big performances before the end of the season.
Cameron Thompson, JamesBridge and Charlie Hickling were performing for the first time at this age group, but more than held their own against older opposition by placing highly in their events, achieving some great personal best performances and also trying new events to gain some valuable points for the team.
Jake Harris achieved a personal best in the javelin, as did Jonathon Greenwood in the 1500m in addition to earning valuable points in the inaugural 4 x 300m relay along with JamesBridge and Kris Caines . The 4 x 100m team of Kris Caines, Cameron Thompson, Matthew Trickey and Brett Harrison stormed home to an impressive 30 metre win over Team Bath, to consolidate the teams shining performance. The home match at Yeovil on 20th May is looking very promising with such talent!
