YEOVIL OLYMPIADS SENIOR MEN’S TEAM IMPROVE PERFORMANCES FOR 2ND
MATCH The Yeovil
Olympiads Senior Men’s Team had a number of personal best performances in last
Saturday’s 2nd League Match of the season, and
narrowly missed winning the match.The outcome was an
excellently hard fought second place, losing out to
Southampton AC butbeating
TeamDorset and Fleet & Crookham
comfortably.
Skipper, Paul Guest encouraged the newly formed team from
Yeovil and Wells to make every point count and was delighted that the team
responded with 8 personal best performances.
YOAC named their “Athlete of the Match” as Mark Plowman, who
threw an impressive 39.94 metres in the Discus, giving him a comfortable
A-string win to go with his A-string victories in the Pole Vault, High Jump and
B-string win in the 110 metre hurdles.
Other notable
performances came from Cameron Rafferty winning his B-string high jump with 1.70
metres (even though still an U17 competitor) and achieving a personal best of
11.33 metres in the Triple Jump. Staying with Triple Jump, Lewis Guest (also an
U17) continued his improvement with another personal best of 11.70 metres and
also beat his previous best time in the 400 metre hurdles B-string.
Jaz Stott ran an
impressive new best of 59.0 secs in difficult conditions in the A-string 400
metre hurdles. Xavier Pathy-Barker was making his debut for the club and won the
B-string 400 metres with an excellent 55.0, Jimmy Newport stepped up to the
heavier men’s weight in the hammer and set a new personal best of 28.51 metres
in winning the competition. Jake Webber won his B-string Long Jump and Shot Put
and, most notably, continued his improvement in the Javelin with a personal best
37.68 metres.
